There was already a lot of youth engaged in environmental issues, some in organizations like ours, and some on their own. First and foremost, I think the school strikes have created attention towards those youth, and given them a far stronger voice than we had before. Also, many of the people who had previously been concerned over the lack of climate action from politicians on their own, have turned that concern into political action.
The most serious environmental issue in Norway is oil drilling in vulnerable marine ecosystems. The world has already found far more oil than we can ever use, in order to reach the necessary climate goals. Despite this, the Norwegian government is handing out new oil licenses in the Arctic, and in areas important to the sustainable fishing industry we have in Norway. Therefore, our work against the Norwegian oil drilling is our number one priority, and among other things we have filed a lawsuit against the government in order to stop Arctic oil drilling.

I think it's common to underestimate the impact of influencing the people around you. It's good to be engaged, but even better to engage others. So, participate in democracy, not only voting in the elections, but participate in the debates, demonstrations and public events that shape society.
You can do it!」
If we organize our movement together, we can have incredible impact - which is needed to stop the ongoing climate emergency. I believe it's vital that young people in every country in the world unite for democratic environmental action. I wish the youth of Japan the best of luck in their fight against climate emissions, pollution and the destruction of nature. You can do it!
